KCSLUG  the Kansas City Star Light User's Group

KCSLUG is a an astronomy club provided as a service of Lymax's Earth Sky and Astronomy.

This is our new official website. After almost 8 years of hosting, our opinion of FatCow's customer service finally degraded to the point we felt it necessary to move our site to a new host. Please bear with us as we rebuild.

Perseid Veiwing Party August 12th-13th

We will be hosting a Perseid meteor shower watch party at the Beasley farm the night of Thursday, August 12th, 2010. The moon is very favorable this year and it looks like we will catch a break in the weather during one of the shower peaks. Janet will be contacting members with details.

Viewing at Baltimore Bend

Our observing captain, Paul Money, sends out email and calls members whenever he is arranging an observing trip to Baltimore Bend. We try to make an observing run whenever the weather and moon cooperate. Baltimore Bend is far enough out to have dark skies, but close enough to be a reasonable drive.

Our last trip was Saturday, August 8th. The skies were great and our intrepid band had a great time looking through big dobs, SCTs, short TeleVue refractors, binocs, etc. The North American and Veil nebulae were awesome and the Summer Milky Way was high and bright. Let Janet know if you want Paul to add you to the email list.
